Meet Terri

Terri Diaz was 38 years old when she decided to get breast implants. Her children were at an age where they were more independent. She had been working out and felt she was at her best. The only thing missing was larger perky breasts. After having her implants placed, she felt like they were foreign. Her plastic surgeon overfilled them, making them a size larger than she wanted to be. It’s kind of ironic, she wore sweaters to hide them after they were placed.

The first symptoms were right away, migraines and weight gain, but she did not attribute them to her implants. She assumed it was related to stress with her work and life at the time. Then 4 years into having her implants, she started having flu-like symptoms, developed colitis, and was hemorrhaging with her periods. She had severe dizzy spells and could not drive anymore. She couldn’t even walk up a flight of stairs. Over the next 6 years, she got progressively worse to the point of being bedridden for the last 2. She had over 30 debilitating symptoms.

She saw multiple doctors and specialists. No one ever suggested the root cause could be her implants. She had continuous horrid experiences to the point where she almost gave up. She had accepted her fate and that this was her new life. Not until one of her high school best friends sent her an article with Crystal Hefner discussing her issues with breast implants. It was then she decided explant surgery was her best choice and embarked on her journey of healing.

An Inspirational Journey

“In the face of suffering, I found strength. From bedridden to thriving, my journey taught me resilience. I discovered my purpose and embraced self-love. Explanting changed my life, allowing me to live authentically. Now, I’m on a mission to spread awareness and empower others. To me, being an explant thriver means living with love, hope, and healing.”

Thoughts On What Makes a Woman Worthy & How This Has Changed Her Life

“This experience has profoundly transformed me, and I’m still discovering its impact. Despite the challenges I faced, I wouldn’t change a thing. I’ve learned a great deal and met amazing people on this journey. Initially, I pledged to raise awareness about the potential health risks of breast implants, and that commitment became my calling.

I founded the Breast Implant Illness Florida support group, spoke at FDA meetings, appeared in news stories and documentaries, and collaborated on the Breast Implant Health Summit with Danielle Valoras. Together with Robyn Towt, I co-founded GPAC, the Global Patient Advocacy Coalition, to work with advocates worldwide.

I’ve gained confidence and now believe that our bodies don’t define our worth; our health is paramount, transcending societal beauty standards.”
